In June 2025, a Telegram user known as EpilepsyLogsOwner uploaded a stealer log file containing 16,592 records harvested from infected devices across the United States. The data included email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs tied to real user sessions at the time of infection. This was not a breach of a single website -- it was credential data pulled directly off compromised machines and dropped onto a public Telegram channel for anyone to download. HEROIC analysts identified and indexed this dataset across our 400 billion+ record breach database.

Why This Is Dangerous

Imagine someone already knowing your email address, your exact password, and which websites you use it on. That is precisely what the EpilepsyLogsOwner log provides to anyone who downloaded it. Attackers who recieve this file do not need to guess or crack anything -- they have a ready-to-use login kit for every one of the 16,592 accounts captured. Credential stuffing tools can begin cycling these pairs against banking portals, email providers, and corporate logins within minutes. The scenario is not hypothetical: it is the intended use case for Telegram-distributed stealer logs.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (websites and active services the victim was logged into)

Why This Matters

When your email and plaintext password appear together in a stealer log, the risk extends far beyond one account. Most people reuse passwords across seperate services -- banking, email, social media, work logins. Attackers run stolen credentials against dozens of platforms simultaneously using credential stuffing. Every reused password is another door that swings open. Identity theft, financial fraud, and account lockouts can follow quickly. With plaintext passwords, there is no decryption step, no waiting -- your credentials are operationally ready the moment someone downloads the file.

How Stealer Log Attacks Work

A stealer log is created when infostealer malware installs itself silently on a victim's computer. The infection typically arrives through a fake software download, a malicious email attachment, or a compromised website. Once running, the malware records login credentials and the URLs where those credentials were entered, then transmits the data back to the attacker. The attacker bundles these records into a structured log file and uploads it to Telegram for sale or free distribution. The whole process can occure within minutes of infection, and the victim often has no indication anything is wrong -- no alerts, no slowdowns, no visible symptoms.
