HEROIC analysts identified a small combolist called "Hotmail Private" uploaded to a Telegram channel on 17 October 2025. Though modest in size compared to the massive dumps that make headlines, the file still contains 476 records of email addresses, plaintext passwords, and associated URLs, all of it usable by an attacker right now.

Why Even a Small Leak Like This Is Dangerous

A list of 476 accounts might sound insignificant next to breaches involving millions of records, but for the people in it, the risk is exactly the same. Each entry pairs a working email address with a plaintext password and the site it was used on, which is everything an attacker needs to log straight into that account. Small combolists are also frequently free or cheap, so they tend to get tested quickly and thoroughly by anyone who downloads them.

What the Hotmail Private File Exposed

  • Email addresses linked to real user accounts
  • Plaintext passwords, stored with no encryption
  • URLs showing which site or service each credential unlocks

Why This Matters Even at 476 Records

Size does not determine risk. If your email is one of the 476 in this file, an attacker can attempt to log into that account today, and if you reused the password anywhere else, that second account is at risk too. Small, focused lists like this one are often curated rather than scraped in bulk, which can mean the credentials inside are fresher and more likely to still work.

How a Combolist Like This Gets Made

Smaller combolists are often built by filtering a larger breach or stealer log down to a specific email domain or theme, in this case Hotmail addresses, so buyers can target a particular group of victims. That filtering makes the resulting list more valuable per record, even though the overall count is small.
