KATANA_CLOUD Stealer Log Exposes 20,427 Records
HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log circulating on Telegram, uploaded under the label "KATANA_CLOUD FREE," that exposed 20,427 records tied to United States users. The data surfaced on July 25, 2025, and includes email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the services those credentials unlock.
Why This Is Dangerous
Because the passwords were captured in plaintext, anyone who obtains this log can log directly into the accounts it lists without cracking or guessing anything. Paired with the URL for each account, an attacker has a ready-made map of exactly which site or service each set of credentials opens, making it simple to automate logins at scale.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- Associated account and API URLs
Why This Matters
Stealer logs like this one are a favorite tool for credential stuffing attacks. Because so many people reuse the same password across multiple accounts, a single exposed email and password pair can unlock email, banking, social media, and shopping accounts far beyond the one originally targeted. Left unaddressed, this kind of exposure commonly leads to account takeover, fraudulent purchases, and identity theft.
How Stealer Logs Work
A stealer log is the output of malware that infects a device and quietly harvests everything typed into browser login forms: saved passwords, autofill data, and session cookies. Once collected, the malware sends this information back to the attacker, who packages it into a log file like the one behind this incident and distributes or sells it, often through Telegram channels dedicated to trading stolen data. Because the credentials are captured directly from the victim's browser, they are almost always accurate and current at the time of theft.
