HEROIC's threat intelligence team identified a database breach affecting Lazy, a Hong Kong home services platform. Dated December 16, 2024, the Lazy leak exposed 71,813 records containing email addresses, phone numbers, first names, last names, gender, IP addresses, and bcrypt password hashes from the service's customer base.

Why This Lazy Database Breach Is Dangerous

Bcrypt slows attackers down, but it does not stop them. Weak or reused passwords in the Lazy dump can still be cracked offline with targeted wordlists, then replayed against email, banking, and messaging apps used by the same customers. Combined with full name, phone number, and IP, the dataset also provides everything needed to craft convincing SMS scams that reference the victim's real home service history.

What Was Exposed in Lazy

  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • First names and last names
  • Gender
  • IP addresses
  • Bcrypt password hashes

Why This Matters

Home services platforms know when customers are home, what services they book, and which contact channels they prefer. A leak like Lazy gives fraudsters and scam call centers a high-trust channel to reach Hong Kong residents with personalized lures referencing real services. The combined PII also feeds identity verification bypass attempts across local banks and digital wallets.

How Database Breaches Work

Consumer platforms run on web stacks with exposed admin tools, customer service portals, and partner APIs. Attackers find a weak link, escalate privileges, and export the user table wholesale. Without active monitoring, companies often learn about these breaches only when the data appears on forums, which is typically weeks or months after the initial compromise.
