A Combo List Signed "MegaCloud" Appears on Telegram

HEROIC analysts found a stealer log file called "3.2K Hotmail Hits Byyy MegaCloud 07.12" shared in a Telegram channel on December 7, 2024. The name references the date it was posted and credits an uploader going by "MegaCloud." The file contains 3,272 records, each pairing a Hotmail email address with a plaintext password and the login URL it was captured from.

Why This Is Dangerous

Small identifying details like an uploader's handle or a date stamp in the filename often signal that these lists are part of an ongoing series, meaning the same person or group may be releasing similar batches regularly. Because the passwords here are stored in plaintext, anyone with the file can attempt to log into any of these 3,272 Hotmail accounts immediately.

What Was Exposed

  • Hotmail email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • Login URLs for each account

Why This Matters

A Hotmail account is often the key to a person's wider digital life, used to verify or reset passwords for banking, shopping, and social media. Anyone in this batch who reused their password elsewhere is also exposed to credential stuffing on those other accounts. The recurring, dated naming pattern also suggests affected users could see their information resurface in future combo lists from the same source.

How Stealer Logs Work

Distributors of stealer logs frequently brand their releases with a handle and a date, much like a product line, to build a reputation for reliable, working credentials. The underlying process stays the same: info-stealing malware harvests saved browser logins from infected devices, and the distributor filters, verifies, and packages the results, in this case focused on Hotmail accounts, before sharing them on Telegram under a recognizable name.
