In August 2023, HEROIC's threat intelligence team identified a stealer log file uploaded to Telegram under the name MIRAGE CLOUD. The dataset contained 8,170 records with email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of services where the credentials were originally captured. This upload follows the standard pattern of infostealer operators who distribute harvested credential logs through Telegram channels to criminal buyers and other threat actors.

Why This Is Dangerous

Imagine waking up to find someone has already logged into your email, your bank, and your work account while you were asleep. That is the real-world consequence of a stealer log like MIRAGE CLOUD. With 8,170 plaintext passwords and their associated URLs, attackers already know which sites you use and have the exact credentials to access them. There is no guessing, no cracking, and no delay. The moment this data entered Telegram channels, automated tools began testing each credential across popular platforms simultaniously.

What Was Exposed

The MIRAGE CLOUD Telegram stealer log contained the following data types for each of the 8,170 compromised records:

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (endpoint and API host addresses)

Why This Matters

The MIRAGE CLOUD dataset gives attackers everything needed to execute account takeovers at scale. Plaintext passwords eliminate the cracking step entirely. The URLs reveal which banking platforms, email services, and enterprise systems were in use, allowing attackers to prioritize high-value targets. Because password reuse is so widespread, a single compromised credential can provide access accross banking portals, social media, cloud storage, and workplace networks simultaneously, leading to identity theft, financial fraud, and corporate data breaches.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

Stealer logs like MIRAGE CLOUD originate from infostealer malware infections. The malware typically enters a device through phishing emails, trojanized downloads, or compromised browser extensions. Once active, it silently harvests saved passwords, session cookies, and autofill data from browsers and applications. Each credential is paired with the URL of the associated service and packaged into a structured log file. This log is then uploaded to Telegram or sold on dark web marketplaces. Victims generaly have no indication the infection occurred until unauthorized access is detected on their accounts.

Check If You Are Affected

The MIRAGE CLOUD Telegram stealer log exposed 8,170 accounts. If your email address is among them, someone could already be accessing your accounts. HEROIC's free breach scanner searches more than 400 billion exposed records to tell you exactly what has been compromised. Search your email now and take immediate action to protect yourself.
