HEROIC analysts identified a combolist file named Mix hotmail that bundles 51 Hotmail email addresses with plaintext passwords and the web addresses where each login was used. Every credential in the set is paired with the exact site it unlocks, not just a password on its own. The file was dated August 2026 and, like other combolists, gathers already working logins rather than data taken from one company's systems. The only way to know if you're affected is to scan your email.

Why a Hotmail Address Makes This List More Useful to Attackers

A Hotmail or Outlook inbox is often the recovery address for banking, shopping, and social accounts elsewhere. Getting into that inbox with a readable password gives an attacker a way to intercept password reset emails for accounts that have nothing to do with Hotmail itself.

That is why this file matters even though hotmail.com and outlook.com were not the source of the leak. It describes the email provider these accounts use, not a break in at Microsoft.

What the Mix Hotmail File Contains

  • Email Addresses, which tie each login to a real Hotmail inbox, making targeted phishing straightforward.
  • Plaintext Password, which is stored and shared in readable form, usable the moment someone opens the file.
  • URLs, which show exactly which login page each credential was captured from.

The Real Risk: One Inbox, Many Accounts

Email inboxes sit at the center of most account recovery flows. Someone who logs into a Hotmail account from this file can request password resets on other services, read years of old messages for personal details, and lock the real owner out entirely.

Reused passwords compound the problem, letting the same credential unlock shopping, banking, or work accounts that share no connection to Hotmail beyond a habit of reusing a password.

How This Kind of Combolist Comes Together

A combolist like this is typically pieced together from smaller batches of stolen or leaked email and password pairs, filtered down to the ones that still work, and grouped by the email provider they use. Files focused on one provider, like Hotmail here, make it easier for buyers to target a specific kind of account.

Checking Your Hotmail Exposure

Scan your email to see if your address is one of the 51 in this file. If it is, change that Hotmail password immediately and review the account's recovery settings, since an inbox is often the key to everything else. This matters whether the address is one you use personally or for work.
