HEROIC discovered a stealer log file labeled "CHEETAH Mail Access Mix" circulating on Telegram that exposed 22,362 records. The dump, first identified in March 2025, contains email addresses paired with plaintext passwords and associated URLs, giving attackers a ready-made kit for account takeover.

Why Plaintext Passwords Are So Dangerous

When passwords appear in plaintext, there is no cryptographic barrier between an attacker and your account. Unlike hashed or salted credentials, plaintext passwords can be used immediately, with no cracking required. A single exposed password can become the master key to every service where you have reused it.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses — used to identify accounts across platforms
  • Plaintext Passwords — fully readable, no decryption needed
  • URLs — revealing exactly which sites and services were accessed

The Chain Reaction of Password Reuse

Credential stuffing attacks take leaked email-and-password pairs and automatically test them against hundreds of popular services. Because many people reuse the same password across email, banking, social media, and shopping sites, a single stolen credential from this CHEETAH dump could cascade into multiple compromised accounts. Attackers often sell verified working logins at a premium on dark web marketplaces.

How Stealer Logs Harvest Your Credentials

Stealer logs are produced by infostealer malware that silently infects a device and records every credential the victim types or has stored in their browser. The malware captures saved passwords, autofill data, session cookies, and even cryptocurrency wallet keys. These logs are then bundled and distributed on Telegram channels, making them accessible to a wide range of threat actors.
