Researchers Find 14,019 Plaintext Logins in SunCloudNew Leak
Researchers at HEROIC observed a stealer log named SunCloudNew 1254 - 250 LogsFile surface on a Telegram channel on August 13, 2025. The file they reviewed held 14,019 records lifted from infected devices in the United States, each pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the URL that login opens.
Why This Is Dangerous
What analysts found concerning was the complete absence of any protection on the passwords. Every credential sits in plain, readable text, so whoever accesses the file has a functioning login immediately. Paired with the destination URL for each entry, the data is essentially a ready-made target list requiring no additional effort from an attacker.
What Was Exposed
- 14,019 individual records
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- Associated login URLs
- Endpoint data concentrated in the United States
Why This Matters
Analysts note that plaintext leaks of this kind consistently lead to downstream account compromise well beyond the original source. Attackers commonly load exposed email and password pairs into credential stuffing tools that test the same login across banking, retail, and email platforms. Anyone who reused this password elsewhere faces the same risk there, and the exposed email address becomes fuel for targeted phishing.
How Investigators Trace a Stealer Log Like This
Investigators note that files like SunCloudNew 1254 are not the product of a hacked company server, they are compiled from many individually infected computers. Infostealer malware, typically delivered through a cracked download or fake installer, silently pulls saved passwords and cookies from the browser and reports back to its operator. That operator then bundles harvests, in this case 14,019 records, and distributes them on Telegram.
