Researchers Link the Trident Cloud Log to 23,954 Stolen Passwords
HEROIC researchers traced a stealer log uploaded to Telegram on August 6, 2025, back to a batch of 23,954 records tagged with the label "Trident_Cloud." Each record pairs an email address with a plaintext password and the URL of the site the credentials were used on.
Why This Trident Cloud Log Is Dangerous
A file like this isn't the result of a single company getting hacked. It's a stealer log, built from credentials that infostealer malware siphoned off individual, infected devices. Because the passwords here sit in plaintext, there's no cracking or guessing required: whoever has the file can try each login exactly as it was typed by the original user. Close to 24,000 records in one place makes this a substantial, ready-to-use batch.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs of the accounts tied to each credential
Why This Matters
Once a log like this is in circulation, attackers plug the email and password pairs into login pages across the web, a method known as credential stuffing. Anyone who reused a password from this list on another account, a bank, an email provider, a shopping site, hands an attacker a way in without any extra effort. From there, account takeover can quickly turn into financial fraud or full identity theft.
How a Stealer Log Like This Comes Together
Infostealer malware usually reaches a victim's device through a cracked application, a fake update, or a malicious file disguised as something harmless. Once it's running, it quietly pulls saved passwords and autofill entries straight out of the browser, matching each one to the site it was used on. The malware operator packages the results into a log, like the one behind this record, and distributes or sells it through Telegram channels, where other attackers pick it up to try their luck on other websites.
