1,326 Passwords From the reuters.com Leak Just Surfaced Online
Stealer Log Tied to reuters.com Exposes 1,326 Records
HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file tied to reuters.com that surfaced on a Telegram channel on June 10, 2026. The file contained 1,326 records, including email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the accounts those credentials unlock. The data was posted openly in the channel, giving anyone who found it immediate access.
Why This Is Dangerous
Stealer logs differ from a typical hacked database because they capture exactly what was stored in a browser at the moment malware infected the device. That means the passwords in this file are plaintext, not hashed or scrambled. Combined with the matching URL, an attacker can go directly to the correct login page for each of these 1,326 accounts and try the credentials right away.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs of the accounts the credentials belong to
Why This Matters
If any of these 1,326 people reused their password on other accounts, an attacker can use credential stuffing to try the same login on email, banking, or social media platforms. That can lead directly to account takeover, identity theft, and financial fraud, often before the victim realizes their credentials were ever exposed.
How Stealer Logs Work
A stealer log is created when malware, often hidden inside a cracked program, fake download, or malicious attachment, infects a device and quietly collects everything saved in the browser: usernames, passwords, autofill data, and browsing history. That data is packaged into a log file and sent back to whoever controls the malware, then sold, traded, or uploaded to Telegram channels like the one where this file was found.
