13,954 Credentials From Sexavet Exposed on the Dark Web
HEROIC found the Sexavet breach on January 17, 2016, exposing 13,954 records from this Azerbaijan-based music platform. The compromised data included email addresses, usernames, passwords, and IP addresses extracted from the site's user database.
Why the Sexavet Breach Is Dangerous
The Sexavet database stored passwords as unsalted MD5 hashes, an algorithm so fast and weak that modern cracking tools can recover the original plaintext passwords in seconds using rainbow tables and GPU acceleration. Attackers who obtained this dataset had immediate access to real passwords paired with email addresses, giving them everything needed to attempt account takeovers on email providers, banking sites, and any other service where victims reused the same password.

Why This Sexavet Data Puts You at Risk
Cracked MD5 passwords from the Sexavet breach can be fed directly into credential stuffing tools that test the same email and password pair across hundreds of websites automatically. Once attackers gain access to a primary email account, they can trigger password resets on linked financial accounts, social media profiles, and workplace systems. IP address exposure can also aid social engineering by revealing historical network locations tied to specific individuals.
How Database Breaches Work
A database breach occurs when attackers exploit vulnerabilities in a web application's code, server configuration, or access controls to extract stored user records. The attacker downloads the database contents, which often include account credentials and personal identifiers, and distributes the stolen data on dark web forums and underground Telegram channels. From there, other criminals purchase or freely download the data to fuel credential stuffing campaigns, fraud operations, and identity theft schemes.
