The SUPP_STAKE Leak Gave Hackers Enough to Hijack 3,458 Accounts
Inside the SUPP_STAKE Stealer Log Discovered on Telegram
In March 2023, HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log named "SUPP_STAKE 277LOGS" being uploaded and shared by a Telegram user. The file was first observed on March 31, 2023 and has been verified as authentic by HEROIC's threat intelligence team. In total, the log contains 3,458 records made up of email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the websites those credentials unlock.
Why This Data Puts Accounts at Risk
This kind of data is dangerous precisely because it removes all the guesswork for an attacker. The plaintext passwords work the moment they're copied out of the file, and the accompanying URLs tell a criminal exactly which website or service each set of credentials unlocks. There is no cracking, no brute forcing, just a direct login.
The Data Found in the SUPP_STAKE Log
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords, stored and leaked in unencrypted, readable form
- URLs showing exactly which website or service each login belongs to
The Real-World Risk Behind 3,458 Exposed Logins
Stolen logins rarely stay confined to the site they were taken from. Criminals run automated tools that try the same email and password combination against hundreds of other websites, banks included, hoping for a match. A single reused password can be the difference between a minor inconvenience and a full account takeover, drained savings, or a stolen identity.
How Infostealer Malware Created the SUPP_STAKE Log
Stealer logs come from infostealer malware, malicious software designed to sit quietly on an infected computer and harvest whatever is saved in the browser: usernames, passwords, cookies, and autofill entries. Once collected, the data is packaged into a text file and uploaded for sale or free distribution, often on Telegram, where buyers can search it for specific victims or targets.
