HEROIC analysts found a stealer log file circulating on a public Telegram channel on October 28, 2023. The file, labeled Taro Cloud Free 1, contained 26,006 records pulled from infected endpoints. Each record held an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL or API host linked to those credentials. There was no announcement, no news coverage, and no notification to the people whose data appeared in the file. It simply showed up, available to anyone willing to download it.

Why the Taro Cloud Free 1 Data Is More Dangerous Than It Looks

Twenty-six thousand records might not sound like a lot compared to massive corporate breaches, but each record in this file is immediately usable. Passwords in this dataset were stored in plaintext, meaning there is nothing standing between the attacker and the account. No hashing to crack, no encryption to defeat. An attacker can open the file, pick an email and password pair, and start testing it across popular websites and apps within minutes. API host URLs included in the log make it possible to target programmatic access as well, not just manual logins, which opens the door to automated exploitation at scale.

What Was Exposed in the Taro Cloud Free 1 File

  • Email addresses associated with user and service accounts
  • Plaintext passwords, fully readable with no decryption needed
  • API host URLs pointing to connected services and platforms
  • Service and website URLs showing which platforms were accessed

Why This Matters Beyond the Numbers

Password reuse is extremely common. Studies consistently show that most people use the same password, or a slight variation of it, across multiple accounts. That means a single leaked credential from a stealer log like this one can unlock far more than the original account it came from. An attacker who finds your email and password in this file will try it on your bank, your email provider, your social media accounts, and any work systems you access. Account takeover, identity theft, and financial fraud are the direct consequenses of this kind of exposure. Credentials from files like this also get sold in bulk on dark web markets, where they are purchased and used repeatedly over long periods.

How Stealer Logs Like Taro Cloud Free 1 Are Created

Infostealer malware infects a device quietly, usually through a malicious download, a phishing link, or a compromised software installer. Once running, it harvests everything the browser has saved: login credentials, session cookies, autofill data, and a record of every site visited. That harvest gets packaged into a log file and sent to whoever operates the malware. Those operators then sell the logs or give them away on forums and Telegram channels to build reputation or generate interest in their tools. The person whose device was infected often never notices anything wrong. Their data simply disappears into the underground and resurfaces later in files exactly like this one.
