HEROIC's threat inteligence team discovered a database breach impacting Ticket07, an online ticketing platform serving Kazakhstan's West Kazakhstan Region and the city of Oral (Uralsk). Dated December 18, 2024, the Ticket07 leak exposed 6,659 records including email addresses, phone numbers, and MD5 password hashes, placing customers at immidiate risk of credential compromise.

Why This Ticket07 Database Breach Is Dangerous

Ticket07 stored user passwords using MD5, a hashing algoritm cryptographers declared broken more than a decade ago. Attackers with consumer GPUs can crack billions of MD5 hashes per second, which means the 6,659 passwords leaked are effectively plaintext. Combined with email addresses and phone numbers, criminals have everything they need to take over accounts, launch SIM-swap attacks, or run credential-stuffing campaigns against banks, email providers, and loyalty programs.

What Was Exposed in Ticket07

  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • MD5 password hashes

Why This Matters

Regional ticketing sites rarely make international headlines, yet the data they hold feeds directly into global cybercrime supply chains. A single reused password from Ticket07 can unlock a victim's email, which unlocks every other account tied to it. Phone numbers enable targeted phishing and SIM swaps. For Kazakhstan consumers who trusted Ticket07 with routine event purchases, this breach has long-tail consequences that extend far beyond a ticket transaction.

How Database Breaches Work

A database breach typically begins with an exposed admin panel, an unpatched CMS, or a SQL injection flaw in a login form. Once inside, attackers dump user tables wholesale and either sell them on dark web forums or release them publicly to build reputation. When the victim platform uses obsolete hashing like MD5, the stolen database becomes an immediate weapon rather than an eventual one. No zero-day required, just weak server hygiene.
