Security Researchers Find 3,692 TOR_LOG MIX Credentials on Telegram
In March 2024, HEROIC identified 3,692 records from a stealer log file uploaded to Telegram by an anonymous user under the name TOR_LOG MIX 262PCS. The data was posted on Telegram and contained email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs associated with compromised endpoints.
Why the TOR_LOG MIX Stealer Log Is Dangerous
Credentials in this log were captured live at the moment of login by infostealer malware -- no cracking required. These 3,692 email addresses and plaintext passwords were stolen and immediately distributed on Telegram, where threat actors can deploy them for account takeover attacks. The TOR_LOG naming convention indicates the data was harvested via malware using Tor-based command-and-control infrastructure to obscure the attack origin.
What Was Exposed in the TOR_LOG MIX 262PCS Leak
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs of compromised endpoints
Why This TOR_LOG MIX Data Puts You at Risk
The URLs in stealer logs map attackers directly to specific accounts on specific platforms -- there is no guesswork. With plaintext passwords already in hand, attackers can immediately access any account listed in the log without additional effort. The Telegram distribution of this file means it has been accessible to attacker communities since March 2024.
How Stealer Log Breaches Work
Infostealers spread through phishing emails and trojanized software downloads. Once installed, the malware hooks into the browser's credential store and intercepts logins as they happen, capturing the email address, password, and the URL of the site being accessed. These records are packaged into log files and uploaded to command-and-control servers, then redistributed through Telegram channels where they are sold or shared freely.
