In June 2024, a Telegram user uploaded a stealer log file called "TOR_LOG MIX 226PCS," exposing 5,432 records tied to United States accounts. Dated 11-Jun-2024, the file contains email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the sites those logins were captured from.

Why This Is Dangerous

Stealer logs are different from a typical company breach because the data comes directly from infected devices. The malware on the victim's computer recorded their actual login sessions, meaning the plaintext passwords in this file were working credentials at the moment they were captured. Anyone with this file can use those passwords immediately on the exact sites they were pulled from.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs showing the exact site each credential was captured from

Why This Matters

For the US accounts caught up in this leak, stolen credentials tied directly to specific websites make credential stuffing and account takeover much faster for an attacker, since there is no guesswork involved in matching a login to a service. Anyone whose information appears in this file faces a real risk of unauthorized account access, financial fraud, and identity theft, particularly if the same password protects other accounts.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log is generated when malware, often disguised as pirated software, a cracked game, or a fake download, infects a victim's device and silently harvests saved passwords, browser session data, and autofill information. The infected machine sends this data back to whoever controls the malware, who then packages it, as with this "TOR_LOG MIX" file, and distributes it on Telegram for other criminals to exploit.

Check If You Are Affected

Stealer log data is especially dangerous because it reflects real, working logins at the time of capture. HEROIC's free breach scanner checks your email against more than 400 billion leaked records, including stealer logs like this one, so you can find out quickly if your credentials were exposed and secure your accounts before they are misused.
