The Trident_Cloud Leak Means Someone Could Be Logging In as You
HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log dataset labeled "Trident_Cloud" uploaded to a public Telegram channel, tied to a leak date of December 25, 2024. The file contains 11,916 records, each pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the URL of the account it was captured from. Somewhere in that file, someone's real credentials sit next to the exact site they use them on, meaning an attacker could already be trying to sign in as one of the affected 11,916 people right now.
Why This Is Dangerous
Because these passwords were harvested directly from infected computers rather than stolen from a company's database, they are stored in plaintext with no encryption standing in the way. Anyone with the file can open it, pick an email and password pair, and attempt to log in immediately, no cracking or guessing required, which is what makes stealer logs faster to exploit than almost any other kind of leak.
What Was Exposed in the Trident_Cloud Leak
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs of the accounts and services accessed
Why This Matters
A working email and password combination is all it takes for an attacker to log into an account undetected, and from there the damage spreads. Credential stuffing tools test the same pair across banking sites, email providers, and shopping platforms in seconds, and once an attacker controls someone's inbox, they can reset passwords elsewhere, drain accounts, or commit identity theft using the victim's own login history as cover.
How Stealer Logs Work
A stealer log is produced by information-stealing malware that infects a device through a malicious download, a cracked application, or a phishing link, then quietly copies every password saved in the browser along with the site it belongs to. Once the malware operator collects enough data, they compile it into a log file and share it, as happened here, on a Telegram channel where anyone can access it.
