Source Type Stealer log
Origin Telegram
Password Type plaintext

HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file uploaded to a public Telegram channel on August 28, 2023, tied to an entity labeled Trident_cloud. The dataset contained 809 records drawn from compromised user endpoints. What stood out about this particular upload was the compact but precise nature of the data: plaintext passwords paired directly with email addresses and the specific URLs of the services they belonged to. While 809 records is smaller than many credential dumps, each record is completely ready for exploitation with no additional processing required.

Why This Is Dangerous

The danger of this type of leak is not the volume but the immediacy. Every record in this 809-entry stealer log contains an email address, a working plaintext password, and the URL of the service it was captured from. An attacker does not need to run any cracking tools or do any additional research. The file is a finished, actionable attack kit. It can be fed directly into automated login tools that will test each credential against the listed service and dozens of others where password reuse is likely. Recieved by multiple people via a public Telegram channel, these credentials were distributed widely before most victims had any idea their machines had been infected.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs (service endpoints where each credential was harvested)

Why This Matters

Credential stuffing attacks thrive on exactly this kind of data. With a ready-made list of email and password pairs mapped to specific services, attackers can automate login attempts across hundreds of platforms simultaneously. Successful logins lead to account takeover, and from there the scope expands quickly: stored financial information is accessed, connected accounts are compromised, and personal data is harvested for identity theft. The financial fraud potential is real at every step. The August 2023 timestamp on this Trident_cloud dump does not reduce the risk; credentials that have not been changed since then remain valid targets today.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer logs are produced by a class of malware designed specifically to extract credential data from infected machines. The malware is usually delivered via a phishing link, a fake software update, or a trojanized download. Once on the device, it scans browser password stores, application keystores, and autofill databases. It captures everything it finds, including session tokens that can bypass two-factor authentication. The collected data is packaged into a structured log file and sent to the attacker's infrastructure, or as occured in this case, posted directly to a public Telegram channel for wide distribution. The entire process from infection to exfiltration can happen in under an hour, and users rarely notice anything until unauthorized activity beleived to be impossible starts showing up in their accounts.

Check If You Are Affected

If your email address was among the 809 records in this Trident_cloud stealer log, the credentials associated with it may have already been used in unauthorized login attempts. You can check at heroic.com, where HEROIC maintains a searchable database of more than 400 billion exposed records from breach datasets worldwide. If your email appears, change any matching passwords immediately, check your recent account activity for unfamiliar access, and enable multi-factor authentication on every account that supports it.
