The Trident_Cloud Stealer Log Quietly Exposed 134,822 Records
The "Trident_Cloud" Stealer Log Quietly Exposed 134,822 Records
HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file labeled "Trident_Cloud" that was uploaded to a Telegram channel on June 20, 2024. The file contained 134,822 records pulled directly from infected devices, pairing email addresses with plaintext passwords and the URLs of the accounts those credentials belong to. This is one of the largest stealer logs HEROIC has tracked under the Trident_Cloud name.
Why This Is Dangerous
Because the passwords in this log are stored in plaintext, anyone who obtains the file can use them immediately. Matched with the correct email address and the URL of the account it unlocks, an attacker needs no cracking tools and no guesswork to gain access to any of the 134,822 accounts represented.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- Account and login URLs
Why This Matters
A leak of this size means a large number of accounts are now at risk of credential stuffing, where attackers test the exposed email and password pairs against banking sites, email providers, and social media platforms. Because so many people reuse passwords, even one exposed plaintext password can unlock several unrelated accounts, leading directly to account takeover, financial fraud, and identity theft.
How Stealer Logs Work
Stealer logs are produced by infostealer malware, which infects a device and quietly copies saved browser passwords, autofill entries, and session data before sending them to the attacker operating it. The stolen data is then bundled into files like "Trident_Cloud" and distributed through channels such as Telegram. Because the malware collects credentials directly from the device, a log of this size can expose access to a very wide range of unrelated accounts and services.
