The Trident_Cloud_5 Leak Exposed 14,531 U.S. Accounts on Telegram
HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log dataset called Trident_Cloud_5, uploaded to a Telegram channel with data leaked on 8 August 2024. The file exposes 14,531 records taken from infected devices located primarily in the United States, including email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the accounts those passwords unlock. Because the passwords are stored in plaintext, anyone who obtains this file can use them immediately, with no cracking required.
Why This Is Dangerous
A stealer log captures exactly what was typed and saved on an infected computer, so each record already pairs a working email, password, and the specific URL it belongs to. An attacker does not need to guess which service a stolen password might unlock. They can take the credentials from this file and log in directly, whether that leads to a personal webmail account, a shopping site, or a work-related service.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs of the associated login pages and services
Why This Matters
Because the 14,531 credentials in this leak are stored in plaintext and already matched to their login URLs, they are ready-made for account takeover. Anyone who reused one of these passwords on another account is exposed to credential stuffing, where attackers try the same email and password combination across banking, email, and shopping sites. That kind of reuse can quickly turn one leaked password into financial fraud or full identity theft.
How Stealer Log Breaches Work
A stealer log does not come from a company being hacked. It comes from malware quietly running on an individual's device, which harvests saved browser passwords, autofill entries, and session data before packaging everything into a log file sent back to the attacker. Files like Trident_Cloud_5 are commonly shared or sold through Telegram channels, where they reach a wide audience of buyers quickly. Because the theft happens directly on the victim's device, the stolen credentials tend to be accurate and current at the time the log is shared.
