The VIOLET PRIVATE CLOUD Leak Gave Hackers 10,155 Ready-to-Use Logins
HEROIC analysts traced a stealer log called VIOLET PRIVATE CLOUD, billed as a batch of 600 logs, to a Telegram upload dated December 24th, 2022. Inside were 10,155 records, each combining an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL of the login page it was pulled from, all harvested directly from infected devices.
Why This Is Dangerous
This leak gave anyone who downloaded it 10,155 ready-to-use logins, no cracking or guessing required. Because the passwords are plaintext and already matched to the exact site they unlock, an attacker can start testing accounts immediately. Anyone in this dataset who reused a password on another account has effectively handed over access there too.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs of the associated login pages
Why This Matters
A dump like VIOLET PRIVATE CLOUD is raw fuel for credential stuffing, where attackers run stolen email and password pairs through automated tools that test them against banking, email, and shopping sites at scale. Since the passwords were captured in plaintext directly from the browser, they work on the first attempt. Anyone in this dataset who has reused a password remains exposed to account takeover, identity theft, and financial fraud, even years after the original leak.
How the VIOLET PRIVATE CLOUD Stealer Log Was Built
This data was not pulled from a company's servers. It came from malware installed on individual victims' devices, often delivered through a pirated download, a cracked application, or a phishing link. Once running, the malware quietly harvested saved passwords, autofill entries, and browsing session data, then packaged it into a log file. That file, branded VIOLET PRIVATE CLOUD and marketed as a set of 600 logs, was uploaded to Telegram, a common marketplace and distribution point for this kind of data. Because the credentials are captured directly at login, they appear in plaintext rather than the hashed format typical of database breaches.
