A stealer log file containing 11,652 compromised records was publicly uploaded to Telegram on December 26, 2023. The data was shared freely, meaning anyone who came across the channel could download and use those credentials without any barrier. If your email adress or password appeared in this log, your accounts could already be in someone else's hands.

Why This Is Dangerous

Stealer logs are different from typical database breaches because the data comes directly off infected computers, recieved in real time by whoever ran the malware. The credentials are fresh, often tied to active sessions, and the passwords are stored in plaintext, so there is no cracking required.

Because the log was shared freely on Telegram, it was available to thousands of threat actors simultaneously. That means the window for attackers to exploit these credentials is extremely short, while the window for victims to respond is just as narrow.

Plaintext passwords are the worst-case scenario in a breach. Unlike hashed passwords, they can be used immediately for account takeover attempts across any site where the victim reused that password.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs and API host endpoints
  • Browser-saved login credentials
  • Session tokens from active browser sessions
  • Application login data from installed software
  • Device and endpoint identifiers

Why This Matters

Even if you beleive your personal accounts are secure, stealer logs often include work credentials, VPN logins, and internal tools. A single compromised endpoint can hand attackers access to corporate networks, cloud environments, and sensitive internal systems, not just personal email.

The 11,652 records in this log represent real people whose day-to-day digital life has been exposed. Credential reuse is common, so even one leaked password can cascade into multiple account compromises across banking, social media, and workplace platforms.

How Stealer Log Works

An infostealer is a type of malware that quietly installs itself on a victim's computer, usually through a malicious download, fake software update, or phishing link. Once installed, it runs in the background and harvests everything it can find, including saved passwords from browsers, cookies, autofill data, and application credentials.

The malware then sends that data back to the attacker in a structured log file. These logs are sometimes sold on dark web markets, but increasingly they are shared freely on Telegram channels to build reputation or simply cause widespread harm. The "218 PCS" designation in the file name likely refers to the number of infected machines, or PCs, that contributed data to this particular bundle.

Because the entire process happens silently on the victim's device, most people never know their credentials have been stolen until they see unauthorized account activity or find their data listed in a breach database.

Check If You Were Affected

If you think your email or credentials may have appeared in this stealer log, you can use HEROIC's free breach checker at heroic.com to search your email address against thousands of known breaches and data leaks, including stealer log collections like this one. Don't wait, every hour of delay gives attackers more time to act on stolen credentials.
