5,147 Plaintext Passwords Surface in KATANA_CLOUD FREE Dump

HEROIC analysts spotted a stealer log file labeled "KATANA_CLOUD FREE" that a Telegram user uploaded on September 25, 2024. The file exposed 5,147 records containing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs each credential unlocks. It is a smaller dataset, but every one of those passwords is stored in the clear and ready to use.

Why This Is Dangerous

Plaintext passwords mean there is no encryption to break before an attacker can log in. Whoever downloads this file can pair each email, password, and site URL and gain access to the account instantly, with no cracking or guessing required.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of the associated login pages

Why This Matters

Even at 5,147 records, this dump is large enough to power credential stuffing attacks, where automated tools try each email and password combination against other popular sites. If a password was reused elsewhere, that account is exposed too, opening the door to account takeover, identity theft, or financial fraud.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log is created by infostealer malware that infects a device through a malicious download, cracked software, or a phishing link. Once active, it quietly copies saved browser passwords, autofill entries, and session data into a single file. These files are routinely shared on Telegram channels shortly after collection, which is exactly how this dataset went public.
