The CT Weather Breach Gave Hackers 5,860 Email and Password Records

HEROIC analysts found that CT Weather, a weather content platform serving Connecticut residents, suffered a data breach in August 2018 that exposed 5,860 user records. The compromised data includes email addresses and bcrypt password hashes. While bcrypt is a stronger hashing method than MD5, determined attackers can still crack weak passwords offline -- and then use those credentials to break into other accounts the victim owns.
