What HEROIC Analysts Discovered in the Echo Cloud Stealer Log

In February 2026, HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file that had been quietly uploaded to Telegram by an anonymous user. The file, tracked under the name Echo Cloud - Logs - 20-02-2026, contained 873 compromised records. Each record represented a real person whose device had been infected with malware designed to silently harvest login data, saved passwords, and browsed URLs before transmitting them to an attacker-controlled server.

The data surfaced with no warning to the victims. Most people whose credentials were captured in this log have no idea their information ever left their device.

Why Stealer Log Data Is Especially Dangerous

Unlike a traditional database breach where hackers break into a company's servers, stealer logs are the result of malware running directly on a victim's computer or phone. This means the data is highly accurate and recent. Attackers are not guessing or buying old lists. They are recieving live output from infected machines, including the exact URLs the victim visited and the credentials they used to log in.

With this type of data in hand, a criminal can log into email accounts, banking portals, social media profiles, and workplace systems without needing to crack anything. The passwords are already in plaintext.

What Was Exposed in the Echo Cloud Log

  • Email addresses linked to active accounts
  • Plaintext passwords captured at the moment of login
  • URLs showing exactly which websites and services the victims were using

The combination of all three is particularly damaging. An attacker does not just get a username and password. They also know which sites to use those credentials on, which makes account takeover almost immediate.

Why This Matters for Anyone in the Echo Cloud Dataset

Credential stuffing is one of the most common and succesful attack methods in use today. Automated tools allow attackers to test stolen username and password pairs across hundreds of websites within minutes. If you reuse passwords, a single compromised credential can unlock accounts across email, banking, shopping, and cloud storage platforms.

Identity theft and financial fraud are the most direct downstream risks. Someone with access to your email can reset passwords on every linked account. Someone with access to your banking login can initiate transfers before you recieve any notification. The window between data theft and financial loss can be measured in hours.

How Stealer Logs Work: The Malware Behind the Data

Stealer logs are created by a category of malware known as information stealers. These programs are typically distributed through phishing emails, fake software downloads, cracked applications, and malicious browser extensions. Once installed on a device, they run silently in the background.

The malware scans the infected machine for saved browser passwords, active session cookies, autofill data, and visited URLs. It packages this data into a structured log file and uploads it to a remote server controlled by the threat actor. The entire process can occure within minutes of infection, long before any antivirus tool flags the activity.

These logs are then sold or shared freely on Telegram channels and dark web forums, where other criminals purchase or download them to carry out account takeover attacks at scale.
