Our Analysts Found the Gmail Part2 18 Dump With 57,203 Accounts
In March 2023, HEROIC's threat intelligence analysts found a combolist uploaded to Telegram by an anonymous user, tracked as "gmail Part2 18 uploaded by a Telegram User." The file contains 57,203 records pairing email addresses with plaintext passwords and the URLs of the login pages those credentials belong to, with a heavy focus on Gmail accounts.
Why This Is Dangerous
A Gmail address is often the master key to a person's digital life. It's commonly used to reset passwords for banking, shopping, and social media accounts. Because the passwords in this file are plaintext, an attacker doesn't need to crack anything, and the attached URL points them straight to the correct login page for each of the 57,203 accounts on the list.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs linked to each credential pair
Why This Matters
If your Gmail login is one of these 57,203 records and you've reused that password anywhere else, an attacker who gets into your inbox can often reset passwords on other accounts just by clicking "forgot password." That single point of entry can cascade into full account takeover, identity theft, or financial fraud across every service tied to that email address.
How Combolist Leaks Work
A combolist bundles email and password pairs, typically formatted as email:password, often with the login URL attached so an attacker knows exactly where to use each one. Files split into parts, like this "Part2" file, usually indicate a larger dataset broken up for easier sharing or sale on Telegram, meaning the full collection this sample came from could be significantly larger.
