Records Exposed 8,270
Source Type Stealer log
Origin United States
Password Type plaintext

HEROIC analysts identified the GODELESS CLOUD stealer log being shared on Telegram in September 2023. The file contained 8,270 records extracted from infected devices by infostealer malware. Each record included an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL of the website the password belonged to. The name GODELESS CLOUD points to a cloud-themed Telegram distribution channel, a common setup used by threat actors to share stolen credential files with a broad audience at no cost.

The fact that this log was circulating publicly on Telegram means it was not a targeted sale. It was broadcast to all channel subscribers, which can number in the thousands. An unknown number of people have had access to these 8,270 records since September 2023.

Why the GODELESS CLOUD Log Puts Victims at Serious Risk

Plaintext passwords are the most dangerous type of leaked credential. Unlike hashed passwords, which require time and computing power to crack, plaintext passwords work immediately. Anyone who downloaded this file can start attempting logins against the associated accounts right away.

The URL data compounds the risk further. Attackers do not need to guess which websites to target. The log tells them directly. Whether the exposed credentials belong to a corporate email login, a bank portal, or an e-commerce account, the attacker knows exactly where to go first. This level of specificity is what makes stealer logs particularly valuable to criminals and particularly damaging to victims.

What Was Exposed in the GODELESS CLOUD Dump

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (the specific sites the stolen credentials are tied to)

Why This Matters: Account Takeover, Identity Theft, and Financial Fraud

Credential stuffing attacks are the most immediate risk following any plaintext password leak. Automated tools test the stolen pairs against popular websites within minutes of a log going public. Accounts that share passwords with the exposed credentials are the first to fall.

Email account takeover is a gateway to everything else. Once inside your inbox, an attacker can request password resets for banking apps, payment services, and any other account connected to that email address. Identity theft and financial fraud can follow quickly after that.

Even people who believe their passwords have changed since 2023 may still be at risk. Email addresses confirmed as active and connected to real services are valuable for phishing campaigns that go far beyond simple login attempts. Being in this log means being a known target, not just a past victim.

How Stealer Logs Like GODELESS CLOUD Are Created and Shared

Infostealer malware is the starting point for every log like this one. The malware typically arrives through a convincing phishing email, a pirated software package, a fake browser extension, or a drive-by download triggered by visiting a compromised site. Once it executes on the device, it scans for saved browser passwords, authentication cookies, and any cached credentials stored by applications.

All of that data gets packaged into a structured log file and transmitted back to the attacker automatically. The device owner often has no idea this occured. The infection may last only seconds. Then the attacker takes the collected logs, sorts them, and distributes them through channels like the one used for the GODELESS CLOUD dump.

Telegram is a particularly common distribution platform because it allows large file sharing, supports anonymous accounts, and channels can grow to massive audiences with no verification required. A single post in the right channel can put stolen credentials in front of thousands of would-be attackers almost instantaneously.
