KATANA_CLOUD FREE Stealer Log Puts 8,348 Logins Into Circulation

HEROIC analysts found a stealer log file labeled "KATANA_CLOUD FREE" uploaded to Telegram on July 11, 2024. The file contained 8,348 records, each pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the URL of the login page it belongs to. Right now, anyone who downloaded that file has a ready-made list of accounts to try logging into.

Why This Is Dangerous

Because these passwords are stored in plaintext, there is no encryption standing between an attacker and the account. Someone could be sitting at a keyboard right now, working through this list, typing in each email and password pair to see which ones still work.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of the associated login pages

Why This Matters

A list of 8,348 records is more than enough to fuel credential stuffing attacks, where automated tools test each stolen email and password pair across other popular sites. If a password was reused elsewhere, that account is exposed too, opening the door to account takeover, identity theft, or financial fraud.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log comes from infostealer malware that infects a device through a malicious download, cracked software, or a phishing link. Once active, it quietly harvests saved browser passwords, autofill data, and session details, then bundles everything into a log file. These files are commonly shared or sold on Telegram channels shortly after collection, which is exactly how this dataset became public.
