If You Reuse Passwords, the LeakBase ChronosCloud ULP 09/08/24 Dump Should Worry You
HEROIC analysts discovered this data on September 12, 2024, when a user identified as "uniqum" posted a credential dump titled "ChronosCloud ULP 09/08/24" to LeakBase. The leak exposed 229,817 records containing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and homepage URLs. This was part of a two-part release from the same actor: a companion dump covering the previous day, "ChronosCloud ULP 09/07/24," was posted at the same time and is documented separately here: LeakBase ChronosCloud ULP 09/07/24 by uniqum.
The combination of plaintext passwords with email addresses is the most dangerous pairing found in credential dumps. There is no decryption required, no hash to crack. An attacker with this file has working login credentials ready to test immediately. The homepage URLs included in each record indicate which online service or platform the credential was captured from, giving attackers a precise starting point. This reduces guesswork and makes automated attacks far more efficient.

Why This Matters
Credential stuffing attacks powered by dumps like this one are responsible for a significant share of account takeovers across every major online sector. Because most people reuse passwords across multiple sites, a single valid credential pair can open the door to banking accounts, email inboxes, social media, and corporate VPNs. Once an attacker controls an email account, they can trigger password-reset requests and take over every linked service. The homepage URLs in this dump make it straightforward to identify which services were targeted directly, so attackers do not have to guess where to start.
How Database Breaches Work
Dumps of this type originate from infostealer malware. An infostealer is a small program that installs itself on a victim's device, usually delivered through a phishing email, a malicious advertisement, or a counterfeit software installer. Once running, the malware silently copies saved browser passwords, login session cookies, and any credentials stored in the browser's built-in password manager. It then transmits that data to servers controlled by the attacker. Operators batch thousands of these captures into logs, which are then compiled and distributed on underground platforms like LeakBase under the ULP (URL, Login, Password) format that makes the data immediately usable.
