In July 2025, a Telegram user distributed a stealer log file containing 40,000 records harvested from compromised endpoints. The Lunar Cloud Logs (LunarLogsFree) breech exposed email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs collected by malware running silently on victims' devices. HEROIC analysts identified this dataset circulating among threat actors nearly ten months before most victims recieved any notification. The data has now been exposed to criminal networks for well over nine months.

Why This Is Dangerous

Stealer log victims face compounding risk because their credentials were captured live at the moment of entry, meaning the passwords are accurate and current. Criminals who obtain this informaton can attempt account takeovers across banking, email, and social platforms using the exact credentials stolen. The inclusion of URLs gives attackers a precise map of which services each victim uses, making targeted fraud significantly more efficent.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses -- Used to identify victims and initiate targeted phishing campaigns or account recovery attacks.
  • Plaintext Passwords -- Captured in unencrypted form by malware, meaning no cracking is required before criminals can attempt logins.
  • URLs -- A record of which websites and services each victim was logged into, giving attackers a ready-made target list for credential stuffing.

Why This Matters

When criminals obtain a stealer log dataset like this one, the first step is automated credential stuffing: software rapidly tests each email and password pair against dozens of popular services. Because most people reuse passwords, a single stolen credential can unlock multiple accounts. From there, attackers pivot to higher-value targets such as online banking portals, cryptocurrency exchanges, and corporate email accounts. Victims rarely discover the intrusion until fraudulent transactions or unauthorized password changes appear, often weeks after the initial breach.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log is produced by information-stealing malware that infects a device and silently records everything typed or auto-filled in a browser. The malware harvests passwords, session cookies, and browsing history before packaging everything into a log file that is uploaded to attacker-controlled infrastructure. These logs are then sold or freely distributed on Telegram channels and dark web forums. Unlike traditional database breaches, stealer logs capture credentials at the point of use, so even strong passwords that were never stored insecurely end up in criminal hands.
