HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log circulating on Telegram in October 2023 that exposed 2,220 records tied to cloud infrastructure access. The file, identified as MARVEL_CLOUD, contained email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs pointing to API hosts and cloud endpoints. Unlike broad credential dumps that sweep up everything indescriminately, this log showed signs of focused targeting, specifically going after cloud access credentials rather than generic browser-saved logins.

Why This Is Dangerous

Cloud credentials are not like a leaked social media password. When an attacker gets hold of an API host URL paired with a working email and plaintext password, they can log directly into cloud dashboards, spin up resources, access stored files, or pivot into connected systems. The fact that every password in this dump was stored in plaintext means there is no cracking step required. An attacker downloads the file and starts trying logins within minutes. Even 2,220 records is enough to cause serious damage if even a fraction of those credentials still work.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses tied to cloud service accounts
  • Plaintext passwords with no encryption or hashing
  • URLs including API hosts and cloud endpoint addresses
  • 2,220 total compromised records from infected endpoints
  • Data originaly harvested via information-stealing malware

Why This Matters

Stealer logs like MARVEL_CLOUD are part of a growing wave of credential leaks that do not come from a single company being hacked. Instead, they come from malware installed on individual computers, often through phishing emails or malicious downloads. Once a device is infected, the malware silently collects every saved password, cookie, and URL it can find before sending the data back to the attacker. The result is a file like this one, packed with credentials that were never meant to be seen outside the device they came from. Because the source is spread across many different systems, there is no single organization you can blame or hold accountable.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

A stealer log breach starts when a person unknowingly runs malware on their computer. This malware, sometimes called an infostealer, searches the device for saved passwords in browsers, desktop applications, and local files. It also grabs cookies, autofill data, and any URLs the browser has stored. All of this gets packaged into a log file and sent back to whoever controls the malware. That person then either sells the logs on dark web markets or uploads them to Telegram channels where other criminals can download and use the credentials. The whole process from infection to Telegram upload can happen in under an hour.

Check If You Are Affected

If you use cloud services for work or personal projects, your credentials may have been captured by an infostealer without you knowing it. HEROIC's free breach scanner checks your email against a database of over 400 billion compromised records, including stealer log collections like MARVEL_CLOUD. A quick search takes seconds and can tell you whether your email or password has appeared in a known breach. You do not need to wait for a company to notify you. Search now at HEROIC and find out before an attacker does.
