In July 2025, HEROIC analysts flagged a small but potent stealer log named Phantom Txt Free Lines 20 2, distributed free of charge on a Telegram channel. The file contained 3,024 records, each pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the exact login URL the credential belonged to.

Why a Free Credential Dump Is Still Dangerous

Because this log was given away for free rather than sold, it likely spread to a much wider circle of low-level attackers than a paid dump would. Free logs like this one are often the starting point for beginner fraudsters who use them to practice credential stuffing before graduating to larger targets. A small record count does not mean small risk.

The Consumer Services Angle

Logs distributed as "free lines" typically target everyday consumer accounts such as streaming platforms, online retailers, and gaming services rather than enterprise systems. These accounts are attractive precisely because they are lightly defended, often reused across multiple sites, and can be resold cheaply in bulk to other criminals looking for quick access.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of the associated websites and services

Why This Matters

A plaintext password matched to its exact website is a ready-made key. Attackers don't need to crack or guess anything, they simply try the login and see if it works. Because so many people reuse the same password across email, banking, and shopping accounts, one exposed combo can cascade into full account takeover, identity theft, or financial fraud within minutes.

How This Stealer Log Was Created

Stealer malware infects a device, often through a cracked app, pirated media file, or a phishing link, then quietly harvests saved browser passwords and autofill records. The malware packages everything into a text file, which is what gives these logs their name, and that file is uploaded to a Telegram channel for anyone to grab for free.

Check If You Are Affected

Even a small leak like this one can put your accounts at risk if you reuse passwords. HEROIC's free breach scanner checks your email against a databse of more than 400 billion leaked records, giving you an instant answer on whether your credentials have been exposed. It only takes a minute to check and could save you a major headache later.
