In June 2023, a Telegram-based threat actor uploaded a stealer log file under the QurisCloud Free collection, exposing 2,441 records of real victims whose devices had been silently infected with credential-harvesting malware. The stolen data included email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of services the victims were accessing at the time of infection. Unlike traditional database breaches, this data was captured directly off individual devices, meaning victims had no way of knowing their credentials were being harvested. HEROIC has confirmed this dataset continues to circulate within criminal marketplaces as of today.

Why This Is Dangerous

Plaintext passwords paired with email addresses give attackers an immediate, ready-to-use toolkit for account takeover. There is no cracking required, no additional steps needed. Criminals can feed this data directly into automated credential stuffing tools and test it against banking portals, email providers, and retail sites within minutes. The URL data included in this breach also reveals exactly which platforms each victim was using, allowing attackers to prioritize high-value targets like finacial accounts and work email systems.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses: Primary login identifiers for nearly every online account, enabling targeted phishing and account takeover attempts at scale.
  • Plaintext Passwords: Captured in unencrypted form from browser storage or device memory, immediately usable by any criminal who accesses this dataset.
  • URLs: The exact web services and platforms each victim was logged into at the time of infection, giving attackers a prioritized target list for each compromised identity.

Why This Matters

With 2,441 records in circulation, the QurisCloud Free stealer log represents thousands of real people whose digital accounts are at ongoing risk. Stealer log data retains its value for years because most victims never change their passwords after a breach they do not know about. Criminal networks regularly re-sell and re-package stealer log datasets, meaning this data may appear in fresh attack campaigns long after the original upload date. Anyone whose informaton appears here remains a potential target until they take action.

How Stealer Log Works

Stealer log malware silently infects a victim's device and harvests saved login credentials, browser-stored passwords, autofill data, and active session cookies. The malware typically arrives via phishing emails, pirated software, or malicious browser extensions. Once installed, it runs without visable indication, collecting credentials from every site the victim logs into and packaging them into structured log files. These files are then uploaded to Telegram or dark web forums, where other criminals purchase or download them for use in further attacks.
