Somewhere between the moment malware first landed on victims' devices and 22-Feb-2024, when the file surfaced on Telegram, 9,926 sets of login credentials quietly changed hands in the dark. HEROIC analysts flagged the batch, known as TOR_LOG MIX 252PCS, as a stealer log containing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs tied to each account. By the time it was noticed, the data had likely already been viewed, copied, or resold more than once.

Why This Is Dangerous

Every day a stolen credential set sits unnoticed is a day an attacker has to use it. With the exact login URL attached to each password, there is no delay between finding this file and breaking into a real account.

The Clock Was Already Running

Because the passwords are in plaintext, no time is lost cracking or decoding anything. Attackers can move from discovery to account access in minutes, which is exactly why speed matters so much once a log like this leaks.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • Associated login URLs

Why This Matters

The longer a log circulates before victims change their passwords, the more damage it can cause. Attackers often run stolen credentials through automated credential stuffing tools within days, testing them against banking apps and email providers. Password reuse is what turns a single stolen login into full account takeover, identity theft, or direct financial fraud.

How Stealer Logs Work

Infection usually begins quietly, often through a cracked application or a malicious file disguised as something harmless. Once running, the malware harvests saved browser passwords, autofill fields, and session data, then transmits the haul back to the attacker. From there, the clock starts on how quickly that data gets bundled, named, and pushed out to Telegram channels like the one where this file was found.

Check If You Are Affected
