The Trident_Cloud Leak: 37,623 Passwords Could Unlock More Accounts
The "Trident_Cloud" Stealer Log Exposed 37,623 Records
HEROIC analysts found a stealer log file labeled "Trident_Cloud" that was uploaded to a Telegram channel on June 24, 2024. The file contained 37,623 records pulled directly from infected devices, pairing email addresses with plaintext passwords and the URLs of the accounts those credentials belong to.
Why This Is Dangerous
Because the passwords in this log are unencrypted plaintext, anyone who gets hold of the file can use them immediately. Matched with the correct email address and the URL of the account it unlocks, an attacker needs no cracking tools and no guesswork to gain access.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- Account and login URLs
Why This Matters
A single reused password can unlock far more than the one account it was stolen from. If any of the 37,623 exposed passwords is reused on a banking site, an email provider, or a social media account, that account is now exposed too. Attackers routinely run leaked email and password pairs through credential stuffing tools, chaining access from one account to the next, which can quickly escalate into identity theft and financial fraud.
How Stealer Logs Work
Stealer logs are produced by infostealer malware, which infects a device and quietly copies saved browser passwords, autofill entries, and session data before sending them to the attacker operating it. The stolen data is then bundled into files like "Trident_Cloud" and distributed through channels such as Telegram. Because the malware collects credentials directly from the device, one log can expose access to many unrelated accounts and services at the same time.
