The Trident_cloud Breach Happened in 2023. The Data Is Still Circulating.
HEROIC analysts added the Trident_cloud stealer log to the HEROIC breach database on November 3, 2025, but the data inside it is not new. The Trident_cloud file was uploaded to a Telegram channel on July 23, 2023, meaning these 2,602 records of compromised email addresses, plaintext passwords, and service URLs have been in circulation among threat actors for over two years. If any of the affected individuals have not changed their passwords since mid-2023, their credentials are still valid targets for attack. The extended window between the original leak and widespread public awareness is exactly the kind of gap attackers exploit to their advantage.
Why This Is Dangerous
Two years is a long time for stolen credentials to be in the hands of threat actors. The Trident_cloud stealer log has been available on Telegram since July 2023, which means anyone who downloaded it has had ample time to run automated credential stuffing campaigns, resell the data to other actors, or sit on it waiting for the right opportunity. Plaintext passwords do not expire on their own. If someone in this dataset has not changed their password since 2023, that credential is still usable today. The delay between leakage and discovery is one of the biggest understated risks in data breach awareness, and Trident_cloud is a clear example.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs (active services at time of theft)
- API host information
- Endpoint identifiers from compromised devices
Why This Matters
Credential data from 2023 is still highly actionable in 2025. Credential stuffing attacks rely on the well-documented tendency of people to reuse passwords for years without updating them. An attacker who acquires the Trident_cloud log can run it against current login portals and expect a meaningful success rate. Successful account takeovers from older leaks are commenly underreported because victims do not always know when the breach originally occurred. Identity theft, financial fraud, and unauthorized account access all remain real risks for anyone whose email and password appear in this file, regardless of how long ago the data was stolen. The passage of time does not reduce the damage; it often extends it.
How Stealer Log Breaches Work
Stealer logs are the output of infostealer malware, programs that infect individual computers and harvest credentials silently. The malware captures usernames, passwords, and the exact login URLs from browsers and autofill systems, then exfiltrates the collected data to an operator's server. Once assembled, the log files are packaged and distributed, often for free, on Telegram channels frequented by other threat actors. The Trident_cloud log followed this exact pattern: malware infected a set of endpoints sometime before July 2023, harvested credentials, and an operator uploaded the resulting file to Telegram. From that point forward, any subscriber to that channel gained access to 2,602 working credential sets. The stealer model is efficient, scaleable, and difficult to detect on the victim's end because no breach of the service provider is required. Only the end user's device needs to be compromised.
Check If You Are Affected
The Trident_cloud stealer log has been in circulation since July 2023. If you have not audited your passwords since then, this is an urgent reason to start. HEROIC maintains a breach intelligence database of more than 400 billion compromised records, and the Trident_cloud dataset is now fully indexed within it. Go to heroic.com, search your email address, and find out whether your credentials appear in Trident_cloud or any of the thousands of other breaches in the HEROIC database. If there is a match, change the affected password immediatley, review your other accounts for reused passwords, and enable two-factor authentication on every account that supports it.
