In mid-April 2026, HEROIC analysts came across a small stealer log dump labeled "Hotmail Fresh B4_Jx," uploaded to a Telegram channel by an anonymous user. Unlike large-scale corporate breaches, this file was compact, containing just 37 records tied to United States based accounts, made up of email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the login URLs those credentials were used on.

Why This Is Dangerous

A small record count does not mean small risk for the people involved. Each of the 37 entries in this log represents a real, working login captured directly from an infected device, complete with the exact website it was used on. Because the password is stored in plaintext rather than hashed or encrypted, anyone who downloads the file can use the credentials immediately, with no cracking or guessing required.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of the sites each credential was used on

Why This Matters

For the 37 people whose information appears in this dump, the immediate danger is account takeover on the specific sites listed in the log. If any of those passwords were reused on email, banking, or shopping accounts, attackers can attempt credential stuffing to break into those accounts as well. A compromised email address can also be used to reset passwords elsewhere, turning one small leak into a wider case of identity theft or financial fraud.

What Is a Stealer Log?

A stealer log is the output of infostealer malware, a type of infection that quietly installs itself on a victim's computer, often through pirated software, a cracked game, or a malicious attachment. Once active, it scrapes saved usernames, passwords, and browsing URLs directly from the browser and bundles them into a single file. These files, sometimes containing just a few dozen records like this one, are routinely uploaded to Telegram channels for free or sold on dark web forums, giving criminals a ready list of working logins to test.
