Researchers Linked the MARVEL_CLOUD Dump to 22,485 Stolen Credentials on Telegram
HEROIC analysts identified the MARVEL_CLOUD stealer log in November 2023 while tracking credential dumps distributed through Telegram channels used by initial access brokers. A user on one of those channels posted a file labeled MARVEL_CLOUD containing 22,485 records with email addresses, plaintext passwords, and associated URLs. What stood out was the naming convention suggesting a specific, named cloud environment rather than a generic mixed credential dump. That kind of specificity signals a targeted harvest, where the attacker was interested in one particular platform rather than casting a wide net.
Why This Is Dangerous
When a stealer log targets a named cloud environment, the risk is concentrated. Everyone in that dataset likely has a connection to MARVEL_CLOUD, meaning the exposed credentials may grant access to shared infrastructure, file storage, or API endpoints. Attackers who focus on cloud credentials are often after more than just one account -- they are looking for a foothold that lets them move laterally through an entire organization's systems. The plaintext passwords in this dump make that kind of escalation much easier to execute.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs and API endpoint information
Why This Matters
Cloud credential leaks are particularly damaging because cloud accounts often connect to sensitive data, billing information, and internal systems. Credential stuffing attacks using these logins can unlock far more than just one service. If MARVEL_CLOUD users reused their passwords on other platforms, those accounts are vulnerable right now. The endpoint URL data adds additional risk, potentially revealing the structure of internal systems to anyone who downloded the file from Telegram.
How a Stealer Log Breach Works
Information stealers are a category of malware designed specifically to harvest credentials from infected devices. They scan browser storage, saved form data, and application keystores, then package everything into a log file that gets sent to the attacker's server. These log files are then bundled by platform or service name and distributed on Telegram channels where criminals trade access. The MARVEL_CLOUD log was collected through this method -- malware on a victim's device harvested their cloud credentials and those credentials ended up in a public Telegram post within days.
Check If You Are Affected
HEROIC's free scanner covers more than 400 billion breached records including the MARVEL_CLOUD Telegram dump. If your email address is in this log, you need to rotate your password and audit any connected systems immediatly. Cloud account takeovers can escalate fast, so the sooner you know, the better.
