One Telegram Post. One Log File. The PUBx Leak Had 17,636 Exposed Records.
HEROIC analysts discovered the PUBx stealer log in November 2023 during routine monitoring of Telegram channels that traffic in stolen credential files. A single post by an anonymous Telegram user contained a log file holding 17,636 records tied to PUBx, a platform involving API endpoints and user authentication. The exposed data included email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs. The small size of the dump is misleading -- every record in a stealer log is a working credential, and working credentials have immediate value to attackers.
Why This Is Dangerous
Stealer logs are not theoretical. The credentials inside them are real, and they are ready to use the moment someone downloads the file. With plaintext passwords in the mix, there is no cracking required and no waiting period. An attacker can immediately begin testing those email and password combinations against other platforms. The URLs included in this log also hint at specific targets, potentially giving criminals a roadmap to sensitive systems or accounts connected to PUBx users.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs associated with user accounts and endpoints
Why This Matters
Even if you only used PUBx for something minor, your email address is now publicly associatted with a leaked password. Credential stuffing tools can test that combination across hundreds of websites in minutes. If you reused that password on your bank, your work email, or your social media accounts, those are all at risk. The presence of endpoint URLs also raises concerns for developers or businesses who may have stored API keys or configuration credentials within the platform.
How a Stealer Log Breach Works
Information-stealing malware infects a device quietly, often through a phishing link or a malicious download. Once installed, it harvests saved passwords from browsers and apps, grabs session cookies, and logs keystrokes before sending everything back to the attacker as a neatly packed log file. Those files are then sold or freely distributed on Telegram channels and dark web forums. The PUBx log follows this exact pattern -- harvested credentials compiled into a single file and dropped onto Telegram for anyone to grab and exploit.
Check If You Are Affected
HEROIC's free scanner searches more than 400 billion breached records, including the PUBx Telegram stealer log. If your email address appears in this dump, you will see exactly what was exposed so you can act fast. Change your password everywhere you used the same credentials and enable two-factor authentication where possible. Run a free scan at heroic.com to find out what attackers may already know about your logins.
