The MOONLOGSFREE Breach Happened Months Ago. The Data Is Still Circulating.
Back in October 2023, a stealer log file named MOONLOGSFREE 673pcs was posted to a public Telegram channel. It contained 11,098 records, each one a snapshot of someone's stolen login. Every entry included an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL of the site that password was used on. The data did not come from hacking a company's servers. It was pulled directly off infected personal computers by malware running quietly in the background. That was over a year ago, and credential dumps like this do not disappear. Why This Is Dangerous
Plaintext passwords are the most damaging kind of stolen data because they require no extra work to exploit. An attacker looks at a record, sees the email, the password, and the website, and goes straight to that login page. There is nothing to crack or decode. From a compromised email account, they can trigger password resets on banking apps, online stores, and social media. How Stealer Logs Work
A stealer log begins with infostealer malware infecting a device. The malware typically arrives through a phishing link, a fake cracked software download, or a malicious browser extension. Once active on the computer, it silently collects every saved password, active browser cookie, and stored login it can find. All of that data gets packaged into a compact log file and sent to the attacker's server. The attacker then organizes and labels these logs, often by country or service type, and drops them into Telegram channels or dark web markets for others to use or purchase.
