Our Analysts Found the OTTOHELP GIFT Dump Circulating in Private Telegram Channels
In October 2023, HEROIC security analysts spotted a stealer log file being passed around in private Telegram channels. The file, identified as 2622PCS EG 10OCT OTTOHELP GIFT, contained 49,130 records harvested from infected computers. Each record held an email address, a plaintext password, and a URL showing exactly which website or service that login belonged to. The file was not sourced from a single hacked database. It was assembled from malware silently running on real devices, collecting saved credentials and sending them back to whoever deployed it.
Why This Is Dangerous
Nearly 50,000 sets of credentials, each one tied to a specific website with a matching email and ready-to-use password, is a powerful toolkit for attackers. There is no effort required on their end. They take each record and attempt to log in directly. If the email is a Gmail or Outlook account, they can use it to reset passwords on banking apps, social media, and e-commerce platforms. The URL data in this log also tells attackers which accounts to prioritize, making the attack more targeted and more likely to succeed. Credentials like these are often tested within minutes of being shared.
What Was Exposed in the OTTOHELP GIFT Stealer Log
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords (unencrypted, no cracking needed)
- Website URLs tied to each set of credentials
Why This Matters
Private Telegram channels are not as secure or hidden as people assume. Logs shared in these groups get copied and redistributed constantly. A file passed around in a closed group today can end up on a public forum or dark web market within days. Once your credentials are out there, attackers run them through automated tools that try your login across hundres of different websites at once, a process called credential stuffing. Account takeover is the most immediate threat, but identety theft and finantial fraud are close behind. The data from this log could still be in active use today.
How Stealer Logs Work
A stealer log starts with infostealer malware being installed on a victim's computer. This usually happens through a convincing phishing email, a pirated software download, or a booby-trapped website. Once the malware is running, it quietly searches the device for stored passwords, browser-saved logins, active sessions, and cookies. It bundles all of this into a log file and transmits it back to the attacker. The attacker then filters and sorts these logs, often labeling them by region or account type, and distributes them through Telegram groups or underground forums.
