The Satanic 10M ULP Part 2 Dump: 2 Million Plaintext Passwords Hit BreachForums
HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log posted to BreachForums on September 12, 2024, under the handle "Satanic" and catalogued as Private Satanic 10M ULP Part 2 Sept #2. The dump exposed 2,053,883 unique records, each containing an email address, a plaintext password, and a homepage URL. This is the second installment in a ten-part series released by the same threat actor, following a separate set of ten logs published just one week earlier. Other parts of this series are tracked individually: see Part 2 Sept #1, Part 2 Sept #5, Part 2 Sept #6, and other parts linked below.
The immediate danger here is the inclusion of plaintext passwords. Unlike hashed credentials, these require no cracking: an attacker can take an email and password pair directly and attempt to log in to banking portals, email accounts, social media, and any other service where the victim reuses that password. Paired with the homepage URL field, which reveals the site or service tied to each credential set, attackers have a ready-made targeting list. This combination makes large-scale credential stuffing and account takeover campaigns trivially easy to execute.
What Was Exposed
- Email Address
- Plaintext Password
- HomePage URL
Why This Matters
Credential stuffing relies on one simple fact: most people reuse passwords across multiple sites. When over two million plaintext email and password pairs are published openly on a hacking forum, automated bots can attempt those combinations against hundreds of services within hours. Successful logins give attackers access to financial accounts, email inboxes, and cloud storage, enabling identity theft, fraudulent transactions, and further data harvesting. The serialized nature of this release, ten parts over two weeks, indicates the threat actor is treating this as an ongoing operation, not a one-time dump.
How Database Breaches Work
A database breach occurs when an unauthorized party gains access to a structured data store and copies or exports its contents. In the case of stealer logs like this one, credentials are typically harvested by infostealer malware installed on victims' devices. The malware captures usernames, passwords, and browser session data in real time, then transmits them to a command-and-control server. The threat actor aggregates these logs and sells or releases them on forums like BreachForums, where other criminals can download and exploit the data. Because the credentials are captured at the point of entry, plaintext passwords are common: the malware intercepts them before any encryption occurs.
Check If You Are Affected
HEROIC's free breach scanner searches across a database of more than 400 billion records to tell you whether your email address or passwords appear in known breach datasets, including stealer logs like this one. If your credentials are in this dump, you will want to change your passwords immediately on every service where you use that email address, and enable two-factor authentication wherever possible.
