In July 2016, the Dawn of the Dragons game forums (now defunct) suffered a data breach, affecting 293,000 members. The compromised data included usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, dates of birth, and passwords stored as vBulletin hashes. The game, owned by 5th Planet Games, has since been shut down. This breach underscores the importance of ongoing cybersecurity measures, even for legacy or defunct systems, to protect user data from exposure.
